Volunteer Spotlight: Suzi Scaramuzza

Over the years we have been fortunate to work with the wonderful ladies of the National Charity League (NCL). The group’s mission is to foster mother-daughter relationships in a philanthropic organization committed to community service, leadership development, and cultural experiences. This week we want to shine the spotlight on our NCL liaison Suzi Scaramuzza!
What is your volunteering role with BookSpring?
I am the BookSpring Liaison for the Capital of Texas chapter of NCL (National Charity League).  We partner with Bookspring to provide volunteer opportunities for our mother and daughter members.
What do you like about BookSpring?
I love the mission, focused on helping to spread the love of reading with the youth of Central Texas. It’s simple and powerful.
Why is reading important to you?
Growing up, my mother would take us to the public library on the weekends and help me explore. She would help me find books of interest to me, and I couldn’t put them down. The gift of reading for pleasure is one that I am grateful for.
What is your favorite children’s book?
The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Before I could read, I remember staring at the illustrations for hours. Later, it became a memory that I cherished with my mom, both sharing a love for the story.
