Think of all the sounds that a rhythm can be. Ratatatat and Dumdedumdum.  A rhythm can even be quiet (shhh!).  Can you think of some? Let’s find some rhythms in a book!

  • Where do they spit?

The Joy of Rhyming Seasons

  • What was your favorite poem?
  • What word rhymes with morning in the story?

Pan Tostado

  • What are some words that rhyme on each page?
  • What is the story about?

¿Y Si?

  • If his arms are strong, what is he able to lift up?
  • If his ears were big, what would he be able to hear?

Things to do Together

Here are some great activities to try with the whole family.

Talk: what does “rhythm” mean? What are some of your favorite rhythms and songs?

Create: Make your own rhythm and beats! Use your hands to clap and snap, and use other objects around the house like cups, pans, and wooden spoons to make different beats and sounds. 

Move: Put on your favorite music and dance as a family to the beats!

Read: Read “I Got the Rhythm!” with PBS Kids. This video has closed captions in Spanish available!

Share Together

At the end of the week, reflect on what you read and what you did.
