Things to Do Together

Talk: What do you know and think about outer space? Can you think of any planets or other objects that live in space? Is outer space scary or exciting to you?

Write: Draw a picture of our solar system, and try to include the sun, moon, stars, and planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, pluto 

Explore: Pick a night to stargaze together as a family! This website shows the best nights to go stargazing (when the sky is clearest)

Move Play “Moonwalk”! Turn on some music and dance in slow motion, as if you were on the moon.

Play: 10-1 blast off! Count backward from 10 to 1, and after 1 yell “blast off!” and have everyone jump as high as they can 

Share Together

At the end of the week, reflect on what you read and what you did.

  • What did you learn about the solar system?
  • Would you like to travel to space as an astronaut?
