The Family Readathon is a great way to kick off 2022! Kids, adults, families, students, schools…anyone who loves to read and wants to help improve children’s literacy is welcome to join in the fun. During February, you can participate in book-themed activities and challenges and win prizes and awards. Proceeds benefit BookSpring and The Library Foundation.
Are you a book blogger? Do you have personal reading goals to meet this year? Do you want to help your kids or friends with their reading habits? Are you an educator who wants to motivate your students to read more? Then the Family Readathon is a perfect fit for you!
Set a goal to read 100, 200, 500 minutes or more during February and ask donors to give a dollar for every minute you read. All donations help to get great children’s books into the hands of kids who need them.

Participate in Family Readathon Workshops
The Family Reading Readathon Workshops hosted by the Library Foundation help prepare you. Dates are January 22 and 29 and February 5, 12, 19, and 26. Register for each workshop!
In this workshop, students will engage in various reading “stretches” and “exercises” designed to build endurance, confidence, and creativity with reading during this year’s Family Readathon. This custom curriculum is designed for students under the age of 9. Parents are welcome to join us! If your child is older, please see our other workshops. Students will practice finding best-fit books for themselves, responding to this year’s Readathon fun challenges, and creating a roadmap to increase their reading endurance.
The purpose of these workshops is for students to master strategies to self-guide themselves during this year’s Family Readathon. In addition to these activities and exercises, students will learn about the purpose of the Readathon and how their participation helps other students and families across the Austin & Central Texas communities.
