Time: Journey through the ages for 3-5 year olds

Many, many years ago, when the earth was very new, there was no life. Today, there are people and cities everywhere! Where do you think the future will take us? Let’s read about the past, the present, and the future of people, in a book!

Watch videos, download books to read together, and explore things to do with BookSpring.

Things to do Together

Talk: What is “history”? Define what the past/present/future is and talk about things that happened in your life in the past, things happening in the present (right now!) and things you hope will happen in the future.

Draw: Draw a picture of events that have happened in the past. This could be something that happened in the past in your family or something that happened in the past in your city, community, or even the world!

Play: Get outside and try to find signs of life from long ago! Can you find any fossils? Shells? Rocks? Footprints from people or animals?

Explore: Take a look at the most famous fossils ever found!

Create: Find some family photographs and put together a collage. Do you have any old photos in your family? Or even old magazines or newspapers from the past.

Share Together

At the end of the week, reflect on what you read and what you did.

  • Did you learn anything new about history?
  • What is something interesting that happened in the past that you’d like to learn more about?
