Weekly Themes #44 Being a Summer Reader | Ser un Lector de Verano for 3-5 year olds

Ah, it’s finally summer!  Bibi here, your book-loving butterfly friend.  One of the things I love most about summer is reading all I want; anytime I want, anywhere I want!  I can read before lunch in my bed or read outside after dinner. So, where is the craziest place you would read?  How about in a pool?  Or on the steps?  Or in the grocery store?  Ah, think of all the places we could read together!

Things to Do Together

Talk: what is your favorite part about the summertime? Is it sunny weather? Being able to be home with family? Talk about the different types of books you want to read and when you will read them!

Create: Draw a picture of what you’d like to do this summer as a family!

Write: Create a summer reading “bucket list.” Please make a list of the types of books you want to find and read, and check them off as you go! For example, you could add “Read a funny story,” “Read a book borrowed from a friend,” “read a book by a new author,” or anything else you can think of! Check out your local library for book suggestions.

Explore: Choose a cloudy day to go outside and see what pictures you can see in the cloud shapes.

Share Together

At the end of the week, reflect on what you read and what you did.
