Nursery Rhymes for 3-5 year olds

This week Bibi explores lullabies and nursery rhymes with you! When babies are tiny, it’s great to sing to them and share little cute sayings that have been passed down for many generations, from moms and dads to their kids. Let’s take a look at Nursery Rhymes in books!

Watch videos, download books to read together, and explore things to do with BookSpring.

  • ¿Tienes una imaginación como Shyam?

Vamos a jugar ahora

  • ¿Con quién te gusta jugar?
  • ¿ Dónde está tu lugar favorito para jugar?

What if?/ ¿Y si?

  • What was your favorite rhyme in the story?

Things to Do Together

  • Each day, choose a rhyme to learn together. Share with your child where you learned the rhyme, at home or school? After practicing saying the rhyme together, see if your child can say it for you.
  • Talk about the rhyming words that today’s rhyme included. Can your child give you another word that rhymes with each one?

Ways to Move Together

  • Find a line on the sidewalk, draw a line with chalk or lay down some string to create a line. Can your child jump from side to side over the line, keeping their feet together?
  • Can you hop on each leg, counting to 10 hops? Is it easier on one side?

Share Together

At the end of the week, reflect on what you read and what you did.

  • How many new rhymes did you learn this week?
  • Which one is your favorite? Why?

More Ideas To Build Young Readers

Come back each Sunday for new Weekly Themes from BookSpring. Meanwhile, keep reading for more parent tips and recommendations!

Make your own incy wincy spider with a cardboard roll (from toilet paper) and a single egg cup. Tie a piece of string to the egg cup (by making a hole in the bottom of the cup). Make a hole near the top of the cardboard roll and thread the string through the roll and out through this hole. As you pull the string, the spider will approach the roll. Don’t forget to decorate your spider!
