Bibi here!  Aren’t shapes interesting?  They can be found in so many places.  Circles and squares, triangles, and even stars and hexagons.  My wings are like triangles, and my body is a long oval.  You can draw me if you wish!  Is your face more like an oval, or a circle, or even a square?  Look in a mirror and see.  Let’s look for shapes around us, in the world, and in a book!

Here are some books to read together! You can download and save them and keep them forever, to read again and again. Discussion questions are available for each book.

• Have you ever collaborated with someone to make something? Who did you work with? What did you make? 
• What shapes were the Shape family?

• Can you name the five 2D shapes that were in the story?
• Can you name the five 3D shapes that were in the story?

The Drawing Game

• Do you like to draw? 
• What would you draw using circles, triangles, and squares?

• ¿Quién ganó la competencia de linternas?
• ¿Has trabajado con alguien en un proyecto?

Things to Do Together

Talk: Name as many shapes as you can! Can your child draw these shapes on a piece of paper? Try to include some 3D shapes in your drawing.

Write: Can you think of some shapes that can roll? What about shapes you could slide? 

Create: Take turns to describe a shape for the other person to figure out. You can allow them to ask questions if necessary. For example, “I’m thinking of a shape that has 4 corners

Move: What shapes can you make with your body? 

Share Together

At the end of the week, reflect on what you read and what you did.

• I learned that I could tell the wind is blowing using my senses.
• Did you learn any new words?
