Love of Reading for 6-8 year olds

Hello, my friend! It’s Bibi from BookSpring, sharing my love of reading with you.  Why do I love reading? It helps me feel good.  It teaches me things I don’t know.  I love it so much when people read aloud to me.  There are so many reasons to love to read!  What do you love about reading?

Watch this video, download books to read together, and explore things to do with BookSpring.

Read Together at home

Here are some books to read together!  You can download and save them and keep them forever, to read again and again.

  • Little Ant’s Big Plan
    • What are some of your favorite books?
    • What did Little Ant learn from the book he read?
  • Ou Ou Wants to Have Friends
    • How does Ou Ou finally make friends with the other animals?
    • How would you feel if you didn’t have friends like Ou Ou?
  • My Big Family
    • Why does Bin want to be alone?
    • Who are some members of your family?
  • Tina and the Stars
    • Who helps Tina get the stars?
    • Like Tina, do you have anything special to you?

Things to Do Together

Talk: Talk about love! What are some things you love to do? Who are some people in your life that you love? Why do you love them?

Write: Make a Valentine’s Day card for someone! You can write it to someone in your family, your household, your neighbor, a friend, or even the postal worker that collects your mail. Valentine’s day cards are a great way to communicate your feelings of gratitude, kindness, and love to another person.

Move: Do a random act of kindness together! Clean a room of your house, rake some leaves for your neighbor or say some kind words to someone you meet this week.

Another movement idea is to have a Valentine’s Day family dance party where everyone gets to pick a song for the whole family to enjoy.

Create: make Valentine’s day meal or food! Think of red and/or pink foods, and then think if you could create a menu of just those foods. If you have red food coloring, you can also turn all sorts of colors pink and red.

Share Together

At the end of the week, reflect on what you read, and what you did.

  • What are some things we learned about Valentine’s Day?
  • How do I like to send and receive love?
  • What was my favorite book I read this week with someone I care about?
