Things to Do Together

Talk: Ask your family what IS the Fourth of July about? Talk about what the word “independence” means and what it means for us to be independent people.

Draw: draw a picture of what your family likes to do on the 4th of July. Do you like to eat outside, go swimming, watch fireworks, or play games?

Move: Go on a flag hunt! The American flag can be found all around your city and neighborhood–take a walking tour by your school, library, post office, bank, Capitol, or other buildings that display the flag. See how many you can find! Spanish instructions Aqui

Experiment: make mint fireworks using water and red & white mints. Spanish instructions Aqui

Watch: the Fourth of July fireworks display in Washington DC (our nation’s capital!) The show starts at about 1:38
