Nursery Rhymes for 6-8 year olds

This week Bibi explores lullabies and nursery rhymes with you! When babies are tiny, it’s great to sing to them and share little cute sayings that have been passed down for many generations, from moms and dads to their kids. Let’s take a look at Nursery Rhymes in books!

Watch videos, download books to read together, and explore things to do with BookSpring.

Things to Do Together

  • Each day, choose a rhyme to learn together. Share with your child where you learned the rhyme, at home or school? After practicing saying the rhyme together, see if your child can say it for you.
  • Talk about the rhyming words that today’s rhyme included. Can your child give you another word that rhymes with each one?

Ways to Move Together

  • Create a paper ball from scrap paper/junk mail (squash it up into a ball) and use it for the following activities:
    • choose a target (this could be a bowl on the floor or a spot on the wall/door. Can your child throw the paper ball to hit the target?  If you do, take a step back and try again! How far away can you stand and still hit the target?
    • Throw the ball to your child, aiming either to the left or right of them – can they catch it with both hands? The goal for this game is to have them move both hands across to the side to catch the ball.

Share Together

At the end of the week, reflect on what you read, and what you did.

  • How many new rhymes did you learn this week?
  • Which one is your favorite? Why?
