Weekly Themes #23 It’s Snow Time! for 6-8 year olds

It’s Bibi again!  Have you ever seen the snow?  It’s so beautiful, and each snowflake is unique….just like me and you!  If you can’t see the snow where you live…maybe you can get a snowcone!  Any way you scoop it, snow is amazing!

Read Together at Home

Here are some books to read together!  You can download and save them and keep them forever, to read again and again.

Questions to Start a Discussion

  1. Hot tea and warm rugs – What do you like to eat when it is cold?
  2. A cup of cha – How does heat travel through a liquid? What is this called? How can you make Meera’s cup of cha/tea?
  3. Snowman – Besides building the snowman, what else did Varnika do with her friends in the snow?
  4. Anook the snow princess – How many daughters does the Polar Bear King have? What did Anook plan to give her father as a gift? How do you think Anook felt when her father sent her away from the palace?

Preguntas para iniciar una discusión

  1. Té caliente y alfombras calientitos – ¿Qué te gusta comer cuando hace frío?
  2. Una taza de té – ¿Cómo viaja el calor a través de un líquido? ¿Cómo se llama esto? ¿Cómo puedes hacer la taza de té de Meera?
  3. Resbalón – ¿Qué hacen los niños en la nieve?

Things to Do Together

  1. Make a list of all the things that you can do in and with snow.
  2. How many words can you think of that rhyme with snow?

Ways to Move Together

Can you…

  • Glide like an ice skater?
  • Waddle like a penguin on ice?
  • Freeze like a snowman?
  • Fall gently like a snowflake?
  • Throw an imaginary snowball?

Share Together

At the end of the week, reflect on what you read, and what you did.

  • What do you wear to keep warm in the winter?
  • If or when you get to play in the snow, what is the first thing you want to do?
