We are shining the Volunteer Spotlight on our AmeriCorps VISTA, Evan Rosenblum. He believes that books are a critical tool in helping us better understand ourselves, our world, and each other. We are thrilled to have Evan’s expertise and creativity on our team!

What is your job at BookSpring?

I am the Americorps Fund & Awareness Development VISTA. My job is to support the development team, which includes researching the most effective ways to communicate BookSpring’s amazing impact, assisting with fundraising events, and increasing the reach of existing campaigns.

What do you like about your job at BookSpring?

Reading has played such an important role in my own development, so I love working alongside a team that’s laser-focused on providing families with the means to instill a lifelong love for reading in their own children. As the statistics show, it’s a gift that keeps on giving.

How has your job at BookSpring changed with the outbreak of Covid-19?

I actually started at BookSpring during the Covid-19 pandemic, so I can’t speak to how it was before. But the fundraising landscape has obviously changed, and I think it’s as important as ever to be communicative with donors as we navigate this difficult time together and to emphasize the direct impact that their gifts can have on BookSpring’s ability to fulfill its mission.

What would you like to tell the BookSpring audience?

As a new-joiner, I was amazed at the team’s efforts in processing the huge volumes of book donations and getting them out to kids in the midst of a global pandemic. Each BookSpring staff member is working tirelessly, without jeopardizing their own safety or that of the people we serve, to continue to provide books to the children that need them most.
