When I was little, my favorite book was The Very Quiet Cricket by Eric Carle. My favorite character was the stinkbug because at the time I thought it was the funniest name ever. The most exciting part of the book is when the Praying Mantis said hello to the cricket; I thought the Mantis was going to attack the cricket. In my mind I even read it so that the mantis did attack the cricket. My favorite quote from the book is “ This time he chirped the most beautiful sound she ever heard”. This book taught me how to be resilient and to never give up. The theme of the book in my opinion is to never give up on what you are trying to do. This book changed my life by inspiring me to never give up, especially on reading. I would recommend this book because it has a very powerful theme to never give up and it has some very funny insects if you are little. If someone told me that reading was a waste of their time, I would say… “ Some books can be a bit boring, but if you read more books the chances are you’ll find one you will like”.
