Because we couldn’t narrow it down to just one book – My girls’ two favorite books

We read to my three year old twin girls every day. While there are many books that they love to read, their two favorites – one for each – are quite unique.

Lester’s Dreadful Sweaters by K.G. Campbell
The first exposure we had to this book was at a library storytime. I knew I had to buy our own copy after it made me laugh out loud more than once while the librarian read it. This book is about a boy and the mysterious sweater knitting aunt who comes to live with his family. It is quirky, funny, and thoughtful. My girls adore Lester’s Dreadful Sweaters largely because of how much fun I have reading it with them. The book is great for everyone, including adults! The story is interesting and unlike any other I’ve read before. Not to mention, I like that it uses good descriptive words like “uncommonly,” “suspicious,” and “irksome.”

Christmas Delicious by Lyn Loates
Christmas Delicious was another library find. We first got it at Christmas, and my daughters loved it immediately. To this day, every time one of my daughters spots it in the library, we have to check it out. The book is about two mice who craft a lavish Christmas dinner, then realize that they forgot the most important part of Christmas…sharing with those they love. It’s a great storyline and it has a rhyming structure that is flowing and fun to read, and it has become a part of our holiday tradition.
