As we all are adjusting to life under the restrictions needed to control the Coronavirus Pandemic, BookSpring is looking for ways to help children and families choose reading as part of their daily routines. We here at BookSpring are still working towards our mission to build early literacy, including enhanced digital curation of open online children’s book and reading resources, like Unite for Literacy and Storyweaver.
How Can We Help?
Meanwhile, we’re asking ourselves two questions:
How can we make your life as a doctor, teacher, librarian, or community partner better?
What can we do to better the lives of children and families in Central Texas right now?
BookSpring is going almost 100% virtual, with very limited staff time in the office and no volunteers on site. We can still drop ship new books to partners through Rx, Ed, and Go programs. We’re still accepting donated books as drop offs outside of the building. Partner distributions are on a case-by-case basis.
We are in a good place overall having already moved all our operations to the cloud, and working to add value by curating the many great digital resources for parents and families online. We will update you on the status of Readathon prizes and the Summer Success books through our participating partner schools as soon as we can.
How Can You Help?
While we could certainly use regular sustaining gifts, we are very concerned about children’s basic food, shelter, and healthcare needs, and encourage those with means to donate generously to organizations that can directly address urgent family issues.
Where to Go for Information
Here are some helpful Austin and Central Texas links that we are following:
COVID-19: Austin Information and Resources. It’s a read only Google Doc, very comprehensive and updated frequently with a variety of topics: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qPyiN1eNI-XxqVBLHxtYbdb585U5fhK630-OXnI4T1U/preview

We will keep adding them as we find them, and please share with us on Facebook.
And in this time of isolation for our community, we are focused on how best we can serve our children and families right here in Central Texas and keep our vision alive – a world of families reading and succeeding together.
