BookSpring honored by Del Valle ISD

Associate Director, Jill Gonzalez and BookSpringEd Director, Wayne Holstine were thrilled to attend the Del Valle Independent School District Education Partners Year End Banquet held at the Circuit of the Americas. BookSpring was nominated in the category of “Big Things Come in Small Packages” award for services provided by a partner with less than 20 employees. We were nominated by the Del Valle Child Development Center.

We have had the pleasure of working with the Del Valle CDC for 8 years and thoroughly enjoy working with Director Scott Wille and Parent Specialist Gail Davis. Their dedication and expertise are bar none! Each year, The Books for Me program at BookSpring provides activities and brand new books children at the CDC along with resources to help children engage with stories at a deeper level. We also provide gently used books for special events and the Free Little Library. The Free Little Library at the center is important in helping each child reach the goal of reading/hearing 1,000 books before kindergarten.

The Del Valle Child Development Center is a model educational facility for young children and has recently completed the accreditation process. With 11 classrooms, this is no small feat! The teachers work together to provide excellent early education for all. Jill Gonzalez and Lili Cantu from BookSpring presented workshops at the Austin Association for the Education of the Young Child Conference this spring and were excited to see many of the teachers from the Del Valle CDC in their workshops learning about choosing great books for their young learning and how to enhance their classroom read-alouds!

We’d like to thank Scott and Gail for the nomination and announce that we have just made our first arrangements to serve an elementary school in Del Valle this coming year! We are looking forward to many more years of launching children into a world of reading, in Del Valle!
