Trainings available via Region 13

Our communities are strongest when we build them in ways that ensure the well being of all residents. BookSpring meets our clients where they are, through our community partners.

BookSpring trainers are certified through the Texas Trainer Registry (Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System). They equip childcare professionals, teachers, parent support specialists, and healthcare workers with the needed tools to ensure parents have access to multiple resources that will guarantee interactive read alouds with their children.

Read alouds are an important factor in language development at the infant and toddler stage.

The Professional Development workshops provide research-based, high energy training with current information relevant to the home and classroom. Currently BookSpring offers three training courses via Education Service Center Region 13 (located at 5701 Springdale Rd, Austin, TX 78723.)

The Parent Book Club Trainer (three-hour workshop)

This course offers experienced book club facilitators sharing best practices. The workshop also offers a full curriculum and a sample set of books.

Attendees will leave prepared to help parents understand the importance of their role as their child’s first teacher.

This course is being offered on December 7, 2016 and April 4, 2017. Register here.

Book Selection for Young Children & Read Aloud Strategies  (These two sessions are 90 minutes each or a three-hour block.)

Expand your knowledge of how to choose books that perfectly fit your classroom of young readers. Learn about the different characteristics and developmental purposes for books for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners.

Once you’ve selected your perfect books, what’s the best way to share them? Learn strategies to make the most of story time! With a few tweaks, you can enhance your read alouds to promote more language development.

Take advantage of the “double feature” workshop that will be held on February 7, 2017 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Register here.

Courses offered through the Region 13 ecampus catalog are fee based. Fees are paid to Region 13.
