“Parr” for the Course

Submitted by: Amanda Black

When the need for giving a gift arises, my go-to author for children’s books is definitely Todd Parr. I love Todd because his books are brightly colored and all about inclusion. My kids especially love The Feelings Book. It talks about feelings and uses a lot of “Sometimes I feel like …” I like to use this book to talk with my son about the way things that happen make us feel or that sometimes we just have off days, and my love for him never changes.

Another book that I really like by Todd Parr is The Family Book. It has the same type of illustrations and uses really bright colors, and it’s all about different types of families and all of the possibilities that can constitute a family. I like these books because they bring up ideas that help kids think about those in different situations. These are ideals I WANT to raise my kids with, and the books gave me a way to start that conversation.
