My daughter Madeline loves books. We spend a lot of time reading, rereading and reading books again and again. When thinking of a favorite author, for both Madeline and me, I thought about which book didn’t invoke a sense of dread when Madeline picked it up for the seven millionth time, and which one she wanted to read that seven millionth time.
The author and illustrator duo, who make us have fun with every read (even on the fifth time… in a row), are Adam Rubin and Daniel Salmieri. Two of their books that really stand out are Secret Pizza Party and Dragons Love Tacos. There are no life lessons in these books but they are playful and creative. The writing is fun and you find yourself looking forward to reading aloud some of the phrases and sentences. We haven’t bought all of Rubin and Salmieri’s books yet but I am sure they will join our collection soon and will bring with them more time reading and smiles.
